The International LGBTQ+ Düsseldorf has existed as a community since many years. Starting as a small WhatsApp group, then expanding to have Facebook page and a group as well. Then creating our Instagram, we have been working on making ourselves known in order to reach as many people as possible in order to help the new comers and when they want, join our community either as a member or a contributor.
Since September 2023 we are very proud to be registered officially as an Association (Verein). This was feeling like another natural step in the amazing organic growth that this group has experienced in the previous years.
Being an association will allow us to receive donations from companies and public institutions to be able to fund larger projects, for example, a bigger presence in Dusseldorf CSD in 2024.
Apart from that, we took the opportunity to better organize ourselves and distribute tasks as follows:
Mission
To provide a support network of international queers that live in Dusseldorf and its surroundings, especially for those who are new in town. We achieve this via specialized social groups and own organized events.
Vision
- To be recognized as the go-to group for international queers in the Dusseldorf area.
- To support our members with their challenges and add visibility to the community.
- To help strengthen the social offers for queers in Düsseldorf and promote the city as an inclusive international hub for queer professionals.
- To inspire other cities to create similar groups
