Sara Theiss

Mother has arrived…

Some call her “mom”, some call her “emotional support shark” and some just call her “that weirdo over there”. Let’s just call her Sara right now… 😉

For starters… I didn’t want to wait for the interview, so let’s skip the third person right here right now. Born and raised in a small town north of Düsseldorf with less inhabitants than Bilk, I moved to the Dorf nine years ago for love… of sushi of course, but yeah there was also a man involved that’s now my husband ❤️

But to get this straight, I am not. I am one of your resident bisexuals, or as I like to call it: “nerdsexual” – if you’re nerdy, look somewhat nice and smell good, I might develop
a crush on you sooner or later 😉. When I was 14, I first came out to my mum and then to everyone else in my hometown over the course of two years. But those were the 90ies, bi+ was chic AF back then.

After some really weird biphobic incidents in the 2000s I decided to stay away from the scene for a while until I stumbled across this group in may 2022. Even now I am still amazed at
how open, friendly and inclusive this group is, so within minutes I decided to stay and involve myself. Well… when I say involve myself, it’s mostly by presence, being there, helping out when
needed, lending ear, shoulder or time to whoever needs it. Also – especially in non-sommer-months – I really love to host movie nights and other smaller hangouts.

If you want to chat with me, my favourite topics are gaming (especially retro RPGs), queer issues, cross stitching, everything sci-fi and fantasy (including books, tv-shows and conventions), internet-culture (but no Tic-Toc, too old for that…), Drag Race and Japanese pop-culture before 2015 (couldn’t keep up after that). If you want to avoid me monologuing, you can also choose any other subject and help me learn more about your favourite subject. 🙂

…. thank you for coming to my Ted-Talk, can I have a drink now?
