Pride season is just around the corner and the Düsselqueers are back in full swing to show the city of Düsseldorf our colourful community! This year we’re not only returning to the parade, we’ll also have our own stand at the street festival.
We learned some great lessons last year, when we took part in the Düsseldorf and Cologne Pride Parades with our own truck. In 2024, we want to give our all for our lovely Dorf. Preparations began in early January, when Thomas Krüger once again gathered a group of volunteers and started planning.
Challenges for CSD Düsseldorf
The plan is to once again have a truck with our decorations, a DJ to entertain the crowd and a special performance by the Düsselcats, our dance group. The Düsselcats need a track and a choreography to meow in style.
Having a truck means that we need volunteers to be our angels. Angels are a requirement of CSD Düsseldorf and they keep an eye on both the truck and the spectators. We all want a Pride that’s safe for everyone!
Our own stand at the street festival is a new venture for us. Again, we had to recruit volunteers who will represent our group – even during the parade. And we had to prepare brochures and other handouts for the stall. Creative overdrive!
Sustainable düsseling
We’re on a mission to make our group more visible and attract new members. We’re thrilled to play our part in growing our favourite city’s Pride Parade and showing our diverse colours.
Preparing for the big day is a huge undertaking, and our amazing volunteers are putting in so much time to make Düsselpride 2024 a success. To help cover our costs, we’ve set up a GoFundMe. This will help us pay for the truck rental, stall decoration, music system and flyers.
Join us!
Join the parade, join our group to celebrate diversity in Düsseldorf. The pride parade will start on May 25 at 1pm.
