Thomas Krüger

Greetings to all who read these words. My name is Thomas, and I am delighted to share my life story with you. As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the twists and turns that have shaped my existence and brought me to where I am today.

Born and raised in Nürnberg, a city nestled in Southern Germany. From a young age, I felt a deep desire to explore the world beyond the familiar streets of my hometown.

It was in the year 2000 that I embarked on a journey of self-discovery that would forever change my life. With courage in my heart, I came out as gay, first confiding in my closest friends and later revealing my true self to my family. This momentous step allowed me to embrace my authentic identity and set the stage for the adventures that lay ahead.

Fast forward to June 2020, when I made the decision to embark on a new chapter in my life. Guided by the desire to live among open-minded individuals, I found myself drawn to the vibrant city of Düsseldorf. The allure of this cosmopolitan hub, known for its diversity and acceptance, called out to my spirit, urging me to make it my home.

Navigating the Professional Landscape

In Düsseldorf, I sought to establish a fulfilling career that would allow me to contribute to the community I had chosen to embrace. As fate would have it, I found myself working as a project manager in a prominent real estate company. This role not only provided me with a means of livelihood but also offered me a platform to shape and impact the urban landscape of the city that had welcomed me with open arms.

The Quest for Connection

Every individual seeks a sense of belonging, a place where they can truly be themselves and forge deep connections with like-minded souls. For me, this quest led me to the “Düssel Queer” community, a group I was introduced to in the summer of 2021 through the recommendation of a dear friend.

From the moment I stepped into the embrace of this diverse community, I felt a profound sense of homecoming. The members of this group became my second family, providing a safety net of love, acceptance, and understanding. Through countless conversations and shared experiences, I encountered countless beautiful souls and forged lifelong friendships.

A Passion for Organizing

Within the folds of the Düssel Queer Community, I discovered a passion for organization and a desire to contribute in meaningful ways. Leveraging my innate skills and love for planning, I took it upon myself to create the TGIF (Thank God it’s Friday) bi-monthly meet-ups at the Ruby Luna hotel lounge. These gatherings became a space where individuals could unwind, connect, and celebrate the joy of being part of this vibrant community.

Additionally, I immersed myself in the organization of the CSD/gay pride participation and other recurring events. These endeavors allowed me to channel my enthusiasm and creativity into activities that fostered unity, celebration, and advocacy.

Extending a Helping Hand

In my journey with the Düssel Queer Community, I encountered individuals facing housing challenges. Driven by empathy and a desire to make a difference, I dedicated myself to assisting those in need. Whether it was offering guidance, connecting people with resources, or simply lending an empathetic ear, I strove to make a positive impact on the lives of my fellow community members.

Embracing the Future

As I pen down these words, my heart is filled with gratitude for the paths I have traversed and the lessons I have learned. My autobiography, though a mere snapshot of my life, reflects the power of self-discovery, the importance of community, and the joy of making a difference.

Looking to the future, I am excited to continue my journey, embracing new experiences, and cherishing the relationships I have cultivated. May my story inspire others to live authentically, to seek connection, and to make a positive impact in the lives of those around them.

Let’s catch up and have a drink! I’ll tell you more about myself, our community and welcome you with open arms.
